. If my math is correct, the drum (and the clutchpack) is spinning at 100 revolutions per second at 6,000 RPM. So if the DSG takes 10ms to shift (probably closer to 8ms but close enough) the clutches slip for one revolution. You might not feel it, but the clutches slip all of the time.
When the speed rises, the flap will close, and maximum power can be delivered. Even before reaching peak torque, the Golf GTI makes 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) as low as 1,750 rpm, while the Golf R
Pre dieselgate, maybe, haha. Best you get on Utube and watch Golf R8, AMG A35 and new BMW 135i get whipped by several car lengths, then they try a AMG A45 and Golf R is within a car length. And if you watch the OP’s video, you’ll see a lot of the speed differential in those races is due to gearing of the 8R.

Strangely enough my Seat accelerated way better, we tried two times. Have been using high octane fuel 99+, don't know if it was the reason, but the Golf should accelerate better with the new engine.
To make the GTI, VW takes the basic Golf hatchback and adds a 228-horsepower engine, a lower and stiffer suspension, stronger brakes and an available seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
